Chad

Chad is a landlocked country in the upper middle of Africa. Libya is on its northern border, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger to the west. Its capital and largest city is N’Djamena. Chad is named after Lake Chad, a large shallow lake in the far west of Chad.
Officially known as the Republic of Chad, the country is considered one of the most corrupt countries in the world and considered a failed state by the Fund for Peace. The country was named after Lake Chad, which is sadly shrinking with great ecological damage. Conquered by France in 1920 and independent in 1960, Chad is home to 20 ethnic groups and some of the most important archaeological sites in the discovery of the history of early man.
